Children's Ministries

Saint Andrews offers a number of programs and ministries for young children and young families, including the annual Critter Carnival at Halloween, Easter Egg Hunt on Easter Weekend, the July 4th Picnic, and a monthly Date Night for parents. Following are regular programs and ministries offered throughout the year:

Nursery Care -- Saint Andrews has a newly renovated nursery located next to our sanctuary. The easiest way to access the nursery from the Gladys Street parking lot is to enter through the courtyard gate next to the basketball court. We always have two nursery staff working the room, and we use a sign-in/sign-out sheet as well as an electronic pager system. The nursery is open every Sunday morning from 8:15 a.m.-noon for both services and Sunday school classes. The nursery is for infants and toddlers; pre-school and elementary-aged children are invited to worship with their families and to come forward for Chancel Chat.

Wee Wacky Wednesdays -- During the summer, our Christian Education Director Gail Moore and Sarah Emfinger (and other parents) lead the elementary-aged children from our congregation on weekly field trips to places like the alligator farm, the Texas Energy Museum, the Houston Aquarium, and other fun places. The group also goes bowling, swimming, and on other exciting adventures. Contact Gail Moore at 892-8611 to register your child today or to learn more about the 2009 summer schedule.

Wee Wacky Sundays -- During the school year, families of elementary-aged children work as a team to provide worship, Bible study, fellowship, and service opportunities for the young children of our congregation.

Journey Rooms -- Don't forget about the many opportunties that exist for young children to learn about Jesus Christ during the Sunday school hour (9:30-9:45 a.m. on Sundays). Parents can drop off children (pre-K to grade 5) in the children's education wing, accessed on the Gladys Street entrance to Saint Andrews. Look for the blue "Journey with Jesus" sign! Our Journey Rooms program follows a rotation-based curriculum that combines arts-and-crafts, singing, Bible study, and other teaching methods that accommodate a variety of learning styles.

www.families
is a Sunday school class primarily for parents of school-age children. The class has studied books of the Bible like Proverbs, as well as Christian-based studies on parenting and marriage. The class, led by Matt and Karen Bordas, is currently studying "The Five Love Languages" by Gary Chapmans. They meet from 9:30-10:30 a.m. every Sunday in the upstairs classrooms. You can access these classrooms by entering through the glass doors on the Gladys Street entrance to the church building and using the stairway halfway down the hallway on your left. Hope to see you there!
