Bible Study Opportunities at St. Andrews
St. Andrews Bible Studies are open to everyone who wants to know and understand more about Scripture. Visitors are always welcome, you don't have to be a church member to come. We learn to understand His Word by using six different methods, we: 1) hear it 2) read it 3) study it 4) meditate on it 5) memorize it and 6) apply it.
Monday Morning Bible Study meets every Monday morning in the Parlor at 10:00 a.m. and is led by Dr. Merriam. We began in January to study the Book of John and will continue this study throughout 2009. This is a very inter-active class that not only studies together but also enjoys fellowship with each other and an occasional social event. If you have children we can also arrange for the nursery, just call the church office and ask for Gail Moore a few days in advance.
Tuesday Morning Men's Bible Study meets every Tuesday morning at 6:00 a.m. (yep, A.M.!) in the kitchen for breakfast, prepared by Chef Don Vassey (see picture, Right), and Bible study. This is truly a unique group of dedicated men who really enjoy this time and study together. They also sing and do 'special request' appearances at different functions occasionally!
Wednesday Evening Bible Study meets every Wednesday evening at 7:00 p.m. in the Parlor and is led by Rev. Keffer. Currently this group is looking at the "Healing Ministry of Jesus". This study is also quite inter-active and they have a unique, deep fellowship with each other. They study Scripture, ask questions, look for the answers and discuss the information they find in Bible commentaries. Again, nursery arrangements can be made by calling Gail.
Lamar University Campus Ministry for Lamar Students meets in the Communication Building every Wednesday night at 8:30 p.m. This is an faithful, close-knit group who is led by our Lamar intern, Jonathan Martin and our Youth Director, Julie Odle. For info please give the church office a call and ask for Julie Odle.
Other possibilities to study the Bible are 1) Presbyterian Women Circles and Enrichment Day. 2) A variety of Sunday School Classes, including 4 adult classes (3 upstairs & one in the Parlor); a 'college and young adult' class who meet upstairs; a high school class that meets in the Youth Center; a junior high class in the Witherspoon Room (ask for directions); a variety of Sunday School Classes for elementary and pre-school children called, 'Journey With Jesus' and 3) occasionally groups that meet in each others homes.
If you have questions or need directions please call the church office at 892-8611.
